- Record a 10-15 second sound bite using Audacity
- Make sure your microphone or headset is plugged into the computer
- Hit "Record" (the reddish circle button at the top) and start talking
- Hit "Stop" (the brown square button)
- Hit play to test your recording
- IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU HIT "STOP" BEFORE AND AFTER EVERY STEP...
- ALSO: BE PATIENT AND WORK SLOWLY; OR THE PROGRAM WILL FREQUENTLY FREEZE...
- Edit what you recorded in Audacity
- Hit stop before you start...
- Highlight the areas you want to delete and hit delete on your keyboard
- highlight the areas you want to add a filter to, then apply a filter (FILTER menu)
- The first filter you should apply is "Amplify." Just choose it and let the program calibrate the best level.
- Try out other filters..
- Convert the file to mp3
- FILE >> Export As MP3 (make sure you save it somewhere accessible.
- NOTE: if it didn't work and you got a pop up message: click Yes. A pop up window should appear with "File Formats" selected (if not, select "File Formats"). Click on "Library" (bottom, right); search for the Lame.dll file and choose it...
- Upload your mp3 file to Podomatic.com
- Create a Podomatic account you don't already have one.
- Select "My Podcast" (top, right), then select "Post an Episode" (in the submenu).
- Fill the information (not necessary) and click on "Import" (bottom, right)
- "Browse" and "Post Episode"
- IMPORTANT: DO NOT LOAD THE AUDIO FILE IN "Add Picture"
- Note: You can alternatively record your audio in podomatic.
- Check if the podcast was posted
- Go to "My Podcast"
- Click on your podcast link.
- It's called after your account.
- For instance, mine is called "Jad's Podcast"
- This will take you to another page that has your podcasts listed.
- Click "Play"
- NOTE: If the browser freezes or crashes, try using FireFox instead of Internet Explorer.
- Add your podcast link to your Wordpress blog
- From Podomatic (My Podcast), copy "Your Podcast Feed" URL (middle of the page, close to the top, under the ad).
- In your wordpress blog:
- Dashboard >> Presentations >> Widgets
- Add the Feed URL to any of the RSS widgets (RSS1, RSS2...)
- Save and check your blog!
