Digital Skills Assignment 4 (Premiere/Video)

Directions:  In this assignment, you will demonstrate your expertise in non-linear video editing using Adobe Premiere Elements. You will be creating a short 30-second music video clip.

Due to the complexity of transferring video to computers, you will be supplied with the raw video material and it will be already uploaded to your computers. Feel free, however, to capture and edit your own video if you have the skills and equipment.

In the raw video included, you have several video shots and a several sound tracks.

First, add one soundtrack to the timeline and cut it down to 30 seconds. The beginning and the end of the audio track should be cleanly cut (You can also upload your own sound track and work on it, and also edit together and combine several sound tracks in one... if you have the time).

Second, create short video segments from the raw video supplied (or your own videos) and add them to the timeline in the appropriate spot on the timeline. You will need to designate the in-point and out-point for the video before you move it to the timeline. Video scenes should "rhyme" with the music/sound and their length should be appropriate to the mood you are trying to create short (shorter video shots reflect a faster rhythm and an action mood; longer shots slow the video down).

Third, add at least one transition between two video shots. You may add more, but don't over do it unless you want your video to look like a cheezy clip from the 70s... It takes more skill to use cuts than to use transitions and special effects.

Fourth, render your final video and export it, using the following settings:

Fifth, upload the exported movie to youtube and email me the link!

Remember: your grade will reflect your understanding of basic video editing skills, and not necessarily your use of the special effects. So, if you are new to video editing, keep it simple.
